The Gambia Women’s Chamber of Commerce (GWCC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Trade, Industry, Regional Integration and Employment (MoTIE) to implement the Digital Literacy (Digital Finance) and E-Commerce Capacity Building Programme for MSMEs in The Gambia (2026–2028), a World Bank- funded initiative.
Under the programme, GWCC will roll out targeted training and capacity-building activities for its members and eligible women-led MSMEs. The initiative will be implemented separately by four designated partners: GWCC, GYCC, GSCC and SheTrades Hub, with each partner responsible for delivering activities to its respective target beneficiaries.
The programme will focus on four key areas:
•Digital Financial Literacy
•Digital Financial Management
•E-Commerce Operations
•Cybersecurity Awareness
The initiative will equip MSMEs with practical skills to improve financial management, adopt digital financial services, expand into e-commerce and operate more safely online, with particular emphasis on women-led businesses, as well as youth, persons with disabilities and rural enterprises.
GWCC members are encouraged to look out for upcoming announcements on training dates, registration and participation opportunities.
GWCC sincerely appreciates the Ministry of Trade and the World Bank for this important initiative and for entrusting GWCC with this responsibility.
We look forward to creating greater digital opportunities for our members and strengthening the competitiveness of women-led businesses in The Gambia.
